Extraordinario éxito de las subvenciones regionales del I.I.O.
En la reunión celebrada por la Junta Directiva en octubre de 2010 en Bermuda la Junta Directiva del I.I.O. decidió que el I.I.O. proporcionará fondos hasta un máximo de 50.000 euros para proyectos regionales en el año de membresía 2010/2011. Se invitó a las instituciones miembro a presentar propuestas de proyectos enfocados a actividades de formación. Seis solicitantes de cinco de las seis regiones del I.I.O. del mundo pasaron el proceso de selección llevado a cabo por el Comité Ejecutivo del I.I.O. en la primavera de 2011.

Ombudsman submitted a petition to the Constitutional Court
As of 1 July 2013, pensioners working in the public sector will stop receiving their pension as long as they remain employed. According to the Hungarian Ombudsman, this alteration of pension regulations infringes the right to property, therefore he requested the Constitutional Court to annul this amendment.

Curso de formación SYT gratuito para los miembros del I.I.O.
El I.I.O. está tomando la iniciativa para aumentar el número de miembros del I.I.O. en América del Norte y hacer ver las ventajas que comporta ser miembro del I.I.O. Con el fin de fortalecer la actividad regional y la visibilidad, la Junta Directiva del I.I.O. concedió una subvención regional a la Región de América del Norte para realizar un taller de SYT (Afilando los dientes) de dos días, previo a la Conferencia Anual de los Ombudsman de Estados Unidos (USOA) en Jacksonville, Florida (24 y 25 de octubre de 2011).

Ombudsman publishes 2012 Report in Portuguese
The Report reveals that in 2012 the Portuguese Ombudsman opened 7027 cases, of which 7015 stemmed from a complaint and 12 from his own initiative. This represented an increase of 1215 cases, i.e. 21%, in relation to 2011. In total, 27218 complainants addressed the Ombudsman.

Ombudsman appointed as National Preventive Mechanism
On 9 May 2013 the Council of Ministers adopted a resolution appointing the Portuguese Ombudsman as the National Preventive Mechanism envisaged in the Optional Protocol to the Convention against Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (OPCAT).
