On 6 June, IOI Secretary General Gaby Schwarz welcomed the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr. Volker Türk, at the premises of the Austrian Ombudsman Board to discuss the common goal of “protecting and promoting human rights”, and review possible areas of collaboration between the IOI and the UN.

2023-05-24Annual Report 2022: Time for the citizen
On Wednesday, 24 May 2023, the Dutch National Ombudsman, the Ombudsman for Children and the Ombudsman for Veterans presented their 2022 Annual Report to the House of Representatives: Time for the citizen. In it, they call on the government to listen to citizens more often, sooner and to better effect. Despite having seen some positive examples from the government, the ombudsmen continue to take a critical view, particularly with regard to the influence and control that citizens currently have over the work of the government.

Together with IOI President Chris Field, Ombudsperson and IOI Secretary General Gaby Schwarz welcomed colleagues from around the world at the premises of the Austrian Ombudsman Board in Vienna.

They met with their host, Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary Ákos Kozma, in Budapest on 16 March.
