The reason for this is dozens of complaints from parents about the proposed amendments to the Ordinance on the Admission of Children to Municipal Nurseries and Kindergartens. The Ombudsman expresses concern about the repeal of the additional point under General Criterion 5 for children who have attended a municipal stand-alone nursery or a private nursery registered with the Sofia Regional Health Inspectorate.

Parliamentary Ombudsman presents first Ombudsman Prize in Law
The Parliamentary Ombudsman, Judge Joseph Zammit McKeon, presented the first Parliamentary Ombudsman Prize in Law to Ms Jodie Mary Farrugia in recognition of her dissertation titled ‘Guardian of Good Governance: Expanding the Jurisdiction of the Parliamentary Ombudsman in Malta’, submitted in April 2025.

DPU Advocates for Women Victims of Domestic Violence Accused of International Child Abduction
On Wednesday, 13 November, at the National Congress, the Federal Public Defenders’ Office (DPU) called for greater recognition of the plight of women who, as victims of domestic violence, are accused of international child abduction. Federal Public Defender Daniela Brauner participated in two public hearings held at the Federal Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, addressing the application of the Hague Convention in cases where Brazilian mothers return to Brazil with their children after fleeing domestic violence.

La síndica pide a la Generalitat que revise la convocatoria de 31 procesos selectivos
A raíz de varias quejas recibidas, la síndica ha emitido una resolución en relación con 31 procesos selectivos convocados por la Generalitat en los que se impide a los aspirantes, a pesar de disponer de la titulación adecuada, participar en más de un proceso. La convocatoria actual limita la participación simultánea en más de un cuerpo o en más de una opción dentro de la escala correspondiente, lo que restringe las posibilidades de acceso a la función pública.

With the participation of teachers from various government schools, the programme aims to build awareness among educators regarding the jurisdiction, functions, and complaint procedures of the Office of the Ombudsman Punjab.

On 20 February 2026, the Ombudsperson Institution organized a roundtable discussion in Prishtina entitled The Impact of the Ombudsperson in Advancing the Protection of Community Rights in Kosovo, in cooperation with the Advocacy Center for Democratic Culture. The event gathered representatives of public institutions, civil society organizations, international partners and community representatives to discuss progress, challenges and the way forward in ensuring the effective protection of the rights of non-majority communities.
