Le rapport fournit un aperçu des activités du Bureau de l’ombudsman des contribuables entre le 1er avril 2023 et le 31 mars 2024.

    Ombudspersons and their advisers from 18 countries gathered in Estonia to discuss AI and Human Rights

    This week, ombudspersons and their advisers from 18 countries across Europe, Africa, and Asia convened in Estonia for a two-day training seminar focused on the technological, legal, and ethical dimensions of AI in administrative decisions and ombuds investigations. As AI evolves rapidly, ensuring its alignment with human rights, the rule of law, and democratic values in decision-making processes is becoming increasingly important. This training seminar was financed by the International Ombudsman Institute.

    Personas mayores se informaron sobre sus derechos

    La Defensoría del Pueblo de Jujuy en coordinación con la Dirección General de Personas Mayores brindó un charla informativa a concurrentes del «Centro de Día Virgen del Valle», ubicado en el barrio Mariano Moreno de la capital jujeña.     La Defensora del Pueblo de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, María Rosa Muiños, encabezó una reunión con representantes de organizaciones que trabajan por los derechos de las personas con discapacidad ante la posible eliminación del nomenclador del sistema de prestaciones básicas por parte del Gobierno Nacional. Los representantes expresaron su preocupación por la medida que permitiría que cada financiador establezca sus propios aranceles, en lugar de acordarlos en el Directorio de Prestaciones Básicas para todos los financiadores del Sistema.

    Alleged non-payment of 2020 nursing industrial awards for nurses in Central province

    In 2020, the Post Courier reported an alleged understaffing of nursing personnel and unpaid nursing awards for nurses in Central province. The Ombudsman Commission invoked its power and registered an own initiative complaint and investigated the matter after having knowledge of the media publication. On 23 February 2024, the Central Provincial Health Authority informed the Ombudsman Commission that all the outstanding nurses’ awards were paid.

    Public Protector South Africa releases reports on investigations it concluded in the second quarter of this year

    The Public Protector South Africa (PPSA) on 30 September 2024 issued its reports based on investigations conducted in the second quarter of the 2024/25 financial year. During this period, the PPSA received 1,489 new complaints, of which 756 were early resolution, 641 related to a lack of service delivery, while 92 were in respect of allegations of maladministration and related improprieties in the conduct of state affairs.

    International Ombudsman Summit 2024 and Hong Kong Ombudsman 35th Anniversary Reception

    The year 2024 marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the Office of The Ombudsman, Hong Kong, China. To commemorate this important milestone, the institution will be hosting for the first time an International Ombudsman Summit with the theme "Ombudsman in a Changing World: Learning from the Past; Preparing for the Future" on 3 December 2024 in the Hong Kong Palace Museum.     CY issues correction to Ministry of Labor and New Taipei City Government on forced unpaid leave to foreign fishermen

    An investigation conducted by Control Yuan has found that after the end of Taiwan’s neritic squid fishing season in September 2023, employers and agents flexibly adjusted fishing manpower using “consensual termination of contract” to avoid requirements of the Labor Standards Act. As a result, 64 foreign fishermen were forced to take unpaid leave, denied the three-year guarantee of work in their contracts, and not given severance pay.

    The Ombudsman resigns in order to become judge with the Court of Justice of the European Union

    On 2 October 2024, the governments of the EU Member States appointed the Danish Parliamentary Ombudsman as judge to the Court of Justice of the European Union. He will be sworn in and take office on 7 October 2024. For the same reason, Niels Fenger resigns as Ombudsman, with effect from the same day.

    In October 2022, the Ombudsman Commission received a complaint in relation to continuous waters disruptions from a long-time resident in one of the suburbs in the National Capital District (city). The resident raised concern that her neighbourhood had been experiencing continuous water disruption for almost twenty years.

    The office of the Western Australian Ombudsman has tabled its 2023-24 annual report in Parliament. The report outlines the work of the Office for the year, including receipt of 2,437 complaints and 12,079 enquiries, finalisation of 95% of complaints within 3 months and the acceptance of all recommendations.

    Social Care Ombudsman publishes complaints figures for 2023-24

    The Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman is reiterating its call for care providers to be required to tell people about its service, after highlighting the relatively small number of cases it deals with about the independent sector.
