2019-01-15Ombudsman welcomes scheme for clients who lost adoption fees
Irish Ombudsman and IOI President, Peter Tyndall, has welcomed the Irish government’s decision to establish a scheme to repay clients who lost money following the closure of an adoption agency in 2015. The scheme is being set up following extensive discussions between the Irish Ombudsman, the Adoption Authority of Ireland, and the Department of Children and Youth Affairs.

During 20 – 21 November 2018, General Viddhavat Rajatanun, Chief Ombudsman of Thailand, and Mr. Boon Tapanadul, Ombudsman, as well as Mr. Raksagecha Chaechai, Secretary-General of the Office of the Ombudsman and executives, welcomed the delegation from the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) of the Republic of Korea, led by Mr. Kwon Kunsang, Director-General of the Ombudsman Bureau.

On Tuesday 8 January IOI President and Irish Ombudsman Peter Tyndall appeared before the UK Parliament’s Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee. Mr Tyndall was giving his observations on the performance of the UK Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman. This followed a peer review of the PHSO which Mr Tyndall chaired with Caroline Mitchell (Lead Ombudsman Financial Ombudsman Service) and Chris Gill (lecturer, University of Glasgow).
