Ararteko Research Study: Sexist Attitudes among the Youth
In October 2024, the Ararteko-Ombudsman of the Basque Country presented a research “Study on Sexist Attitudes among the Youth and Adolescent Population of the Basque Country”. The research is intended to allow a better understanding of the phenomenon of sexist attitudes among the youth and adolescence and extract a series of conclusions, to use them as a basis for recommendations to support decision-makers and improve public policies on gender equality.

Lost in Translation: An Overview report by NIPSO on the provision of Interpretation Services in GP Practices

Sindh Ombudsman Institution takes stock of its brand ambassador program launched to provide accessibility to the general public
The Brand Ambassador program at universities has been initiated through the Regional Subsidy program of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) in 2022-23 in order to foster a deeper understanding of the mandate and scope of the Sindh Ombudsman Institute and to inform the student-community and general public about its availability for the dispensation of administrative justice and speedy redressal of their complaints, particularly in remote and far flung areas.

The Human Rights Defender watched the play "Alice in Wonderland" with the students of the Child and Family Support Center of Shirak Province
On June 8, the Human Rights Defender Ms. Anahit Manasyan paid a working visit to Shirak province. A tour was conducted on the premises of the Child and Family Support Center of Shirak province SNCO of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia, where children in difficult life situations receive care and support. The Defender got acquainted with the children's living conditions, programs aimed at children's development, and inquired about their daily life.

Safeguarding Children’s Rights in the Domain of Sports and Physical Activities
In an effort to raise awareness about children’s rights in the context of sports, the Office of the Ombudsperson for Children collaborated with the Mauritius Olympic Committee to participate in a workshop titled “Safeguarding Children’s Rights in the Sports Context,” organised on 16 November 2024. The event brought together 35 participants, including athletes and coaches, to engage in meaningful discussions and training on the rights of children in sports and the ethical responsibilities of those working with young athletes.

The new Seychelles Ombudsman
The new Ombudsman of Seychelles, Mr George Emmanuel Robert, was sworn in on Thursday, 16 May 2024, in a ceremony at State House. At the swearing-in ceremony, Mr Robert stated that he was truly honoured and humbled to have been appointed the fifth Ombudsman of Seychelles and is ready to work for the people of Seychelles to bring the office to the level that it was envisaged since its creation in 1993.

The Ombudsman of the Republic of Angola receives the Ambassador of the EU in Angola
The Ombudsman of the Republic of Angola, Mrs. Florbela Rocha Araújo, received the Ambassador of the European Union (EU) accredited in Angola, Mrs. Rosário Bento Pais. At the hearing held on 30 January 2024, the Ombudsman requested the support of the EU for the materialization of virtual hearings throughout the country, to increasingly publicize the role of the institution in defending the rights, freedoms, and guarantees of citizens.

The Public Defender summarises his work in 2023 in the annual report
Stanislav Křeček and Vít Alexander Schorm have presented the Annual Report of their office for the year 2023. They welcomed the fact that ministries and authorities had successfully used the Ombudsman’s findings to correct maladministration in individual cases and to change inappropriate practices. On the other hand, they also drew attention to some topics that remained open, such as the transformation of large institutions for people with disabilities and, above all, the upcoming establishment of a children’s ombudsman.

In the July 2024 issue of the News from the Latvian Ombudsman, the Office includes, among other things, the Ombudsman's opinion on decriminalisation of drug use in young people, the child's right to information on healthcare, a call for administrative and criminal liability for sexual harassment, and a study on inequalities for parents in regulated professions.
