Greater transparency needed for Government’s use of machine technology in decision-making
New South Wales (NSW) Ombudsman Paul Miller has called for greater visibility of the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and other machine technology by NSW Government agencies. In a report tabled in Parliament, the Ombudsman has cautioned agencies that using machine technology in ways that do not accord with standards of lawfulness, transparency, fairness and accountability, could lead to findings of maladministration or potentially unlawful conduct.

On 30 November 2021, the workshop «Gender y prisons» will take place, organised by the Spanish NPM and the Illustrious College of Lawyers of Alcalá de Henares. After a previous presentation of the main aspects identified in the NPM's «prisons and gender» project, there will be a Zoom discussion with the members of the Bar Association.

Élection de la nouvelle Présidente et du nouveau Bureau de l’AOMF
La protectrice du citoyen du Québec, Mme Marie Rinfret, vient d’être élue présidente de l’Association des Ombudsmans et Médiateurs de la Francophonie (AOMF) à l’issue de l’assemblée générale virtuelle du jeudi 25 novembre 2021 où ont été élus un nouveau Bureau, Conseil d’administration et Comité des adhésions. Leur mandat sera d’une durée de trois ans.

La Defensoría del Pueblo de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires junto a la Comisión de Derechos Humanos de la Ciudad de México (CDHCM) y con auspicio de la Alianza Global del Ombudsperson Local (AGOL), se unen para realizar un ciclo de charlas sobre el Derecho a la Ciudad. El cuarto y último encuentro del ciclo se llevará a cabo el 7 de diciembre de 2021.

Doctor of Laws Petri Jääskeläinen has been re-elected to serve as Parliamentary Ombudsman of Finland for a term of four years from January 2022 – December 2025. Dr. Jääskeläinen has already acted as Parliamentary Ombudsman two four-year terms.
