Alberta Ombudsman Gord Button resigned from his position as a Director representing the North American Region on the Board of Directors of the I.O.I. In the previous membership year Gord Button acted as Treasurer of the I.O.I. and significantly contributed to the success of the Institute.

The Association of Ombudsmen and Mediators of La Francophonie (AOMF) has launched a new website on which it informs about its mission of promoting knowledge of the role of Ombudsman and Mediator in La Francophonie and to encourage the development of independent institutions of mediation in the French-speaking space.

Stronger protection of the rights of customers of credit institutions
The Ombudsman observed problems and has made recommendations to the Minister for Finance and the Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank. According to the Ombudsman, the rights of the citizens as consumers are often violated by credit institutions.

Ethical principles for EU civil servants
The EU ombudsman recently expressed his intention to draft a statement of ethical principles for EU civil servants. In order to take full account of best practice in the Member States, he sent out a questionnaire to the national Ombudsman institutions in Europe the results of which can now be found online.
