Annual Report 2022: Time for the citizen
On Wednesday, 24 May 2023, the Dutch National Ombudsman, the Ombudsman for Children and the Ombudsman for Veterans presented their 2022 Annual Report to the House of Representatives: Time for the citizen. In it, they call on the government to listen to citizens more often, sooner and to better effect. Despite having seen some positive examples from the government, the ombudsmen continue to take a critical view, particularly with regard to the influence and control that citizens currently have over the work of the government.

The President of the IOI, Chris Field PSM, who is also the human rights ombudsman for Western Australia and is on an official visit with his Slovenian colleague Peter Svetina, advocated the strengthening of the role of national institutions for human rights upon the conclusion of his visit to Slovenia.

Ombudsman calls for review of disability pensions penalized in the assignment or when they became old-age pensions
The Ombudsman, Maria Lúcia Amaral, addressed a suggestion for a legislative amendment to the Minister of Labor Solidarity and Social Security in order to revising the invalidity pensions of the two social protection regimes which were penalized by the sustainability factor on the date of their assignment or when they were convoked in old-age pensions at 65 years of age.
