The IOI presents a new Best Practice Paper on “Outreach practices from Ombudsman around the world”. The paper builds on the regional exchange prior to and during the 13th IOI World Conference and reflects the results of this exchange among IOI members. It was developed by the office of the National Ombudsman of the Netherlands and presents outreach practices from IOI members across various countries.

A roundtable conference on "Protection Against Harassment: Legal Remedies and Practical Experiences" was held in collaboration with Shirkat Gah at Avari Hotel. The event brought together key stakeholders, including ombudspersons from various provinces, legal experts, and parliamentarians, to discuss workplace harassment laws, challenges, and best practices.

Public Services Ombudsman for Wales publishes report on investigation of a complaint against Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board
On 8 April 2025, the Public Service Ombudsman for Wales published a new Public Interest report highlighting significant shortcomings in the patient’s post-operative care, failures in the informed consent process and inadequate contract monitoring arrangements in place between Betsi Cadwalader University Health Board and Health Trusts in England.

NIPSO launches complaint handling guidance for staff in public bodies
On 8 April 2025, the Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman launched a set of videos to help staff in public bodies deal with complaints from members of the public. The videos explain why complaints should be taken seriously and give step-by-step guidance to staff on how to investigate complaints well.

First international conference for NHRIs and ombuds institutions
In 2024, the Basque Ombudsman, Manuel Lezertua, together with the President of the IOI European Region, visited Strasbourg. The purpose of their visit was to revive the practice of organizing conferences for ombuds institutions, a tradition that had previously been upheld by the Commissioner for Human Rights. The Basque Ombudsman proposal played a crucial role in bringing into being the High-Level Conference in Strasbourg in March 2025 for National Human Rights and Ombuds Institutions. Connecting Ombudsman Procedures and Citizens: Advancing Public Engagement and Accessibility in Hungary
The Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary has successfully implemented the IOI-supported regional subsidy project “Connecting Ombudsman Procedures and Citizens”. The two-phase initiative aimed at strengthening public awareness of the Ombudsman’s work, particularly in the field of disability rights, and at familiarizing the public with the network of newly established regional offices.
