Czech and Austrian Ombudsmen to discuss cross-border problems concerning social security benefits
Anna Šabatová, Czech Ombudswoman, and Günther Kräuter, one of the three members of the Austrian Ombudsman Board, together with their colleagues from the social security departments met in Vienna on the 20th February and discussed the cross-border problems concerning the application of the EU Regulation on the Coordination of Social Security Systems in the EU Member States.

Commencement of the Ombudsman Act 2017
The new Ombudsman Act 2017 commenced on 31 January 2018. The coming into effect of this new Act means that any person who is unhappy about how any government office deals with them, can complain to the Ombudsman. Furthermore, the Ombudsman is empowered by this new Act to not only investigate appropriate complaints that it received but can also initiate investigations on its own from information received from any other source including the media.

Le 15 février, le Défenseur des droits a lancé une campagne de communication pour inciter les femmes victimes de harcèlement sexuel à faire valoir leurs droits. Dans son enquête consacrée au harcèlement sexuel au travail publiée en 2014, le Défenseur des droits révélait qu’une femme sur cinq avait fait l’objet de harcèlement sexuel au travail.

"Fairness: A right, not a privilege" is the theme of this year’s report. It addresses the issue of fairness and how it applies to the Canada Revenue Agency’s (CRA) delivery of service to taxpayers, and how the Ombudsman continues to help the CRA improve its service to taxpayers.

Dialogue seminar on the role of universities in promoting integrity and fight against corruption
On 19 February 2018 a dialogue seminar was held in the Jordanian Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission on "The Role of Universities in Promoting Integrity and Combating Corruption". During the seminar, the Chairman of the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission, Mohamed Al-Allaf, stressed the importance of the partnership with Jordanian universities and educational bodies in communicating the mission of the Commission in promoting national integrity and combating corruption.
