Irish Ombudsman Peter Tyndall today welcomed Minister Michael Creed’s announcement that he will implement an Ombudsman recommendation that a Donegal family receive compensation of €245,570. The announcement follows an initial refusal in 2009 by the then Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to implement the recommendation.

The total number of complaints delivered in 2017 to the Ombudsman was 8,191. People increasingly turn to the Ombudsman's Office with their problems in the sphere of social security and also number of complaints concerning work and employment increased by 39 percent.

Expanded jurisdiction over municipalities takes effect
Marianne Ryan, Alberta’s ninth Ombudsman, welcomes legislative changes that expand her office’s jurisdiction to include municipalities. The updated legislation takes effect April 1, 2018 and includes ‘municipalities’ to the jurisdiction, alongside Alberta government departments, designated professional organizations and the Patient Concerns Resolution Process of Alberta Health Services.

Rapport annuel d'activité 2017: Ne jamais détourner le regard
Ce mercredi 11 avril, le Défenseur des droits, Jacques Toubon, présente son rapport annuel d’activité. Il sera remis au Président de la République ainsi qu’aux présidents de l’Assemblée nationale et du Sénat. Le Défenseur des droits a reçu de nouvelles missions, son activité continue à augmenter sensiblement, il prend fréquemment position et présente des propositions aux décideurs publics, sa voix se fait entendre de plus en plus fortement.
