El Inadi atenderá en la sede rosarina de la Defensoría del Pueblo dos veces por semana
Las dos instituciones firmaron convenios de cooperación que permitirán que personal del organismo nacional tenga a partir de la próxima semana un espacio en la oficina de la defensoría para recibir denuncias vinculadas con actos discriminatorios, xenófobos o racistas en la ciudad y su zona de influencia.

La PPN firmó convenio con la Comisión de Prevención de la Tortura de la Provincia de Misiones
La Procuración Penitenciaria de la Nación (PPN) firmó el 31 de julio en la ciudad de Posadas, Misiones, un Convenio Marco de Colaboración con la Comisión Provincial de Prevención de la tortura de la Provincia de Misiones. Ambos organismos mediante esta rúbrica, convienen en celebrar el presente convenio de colaboración y en realizar una transferencia de conocimientos.

Recomendación por requisa en el CUD y en el CENS
El pasado 28 de julio aproximadamente a las 20 horas agentes penitenciarios pertenecientes a la División Control y Registros del Complejo Penitenciario Federal de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires realizaron una requisa sorpresiva en las instalaciones del Centro Universitario Devoto (CUD) y en el Centro Educativo de Nivel Secundario (CENS), fuera del horario de funcionamiento de estos espacios y en pleno receso invernal.

18-month imprisonment of a Victorian woman found unfit to stand trial
Tabling her investigation into the imprisonment of a woman found unfit to stand trial in the Victorian Parliament today, Ms Glass found the woman’s treatment breached Victoria’s human rights laws and international standards on the rights of people with disabilities. Ms Glass said: “we need to ask ourselves how a humane society can justify such treatment”.

El Defensor del Pueblo pide reforzar la protección de los niños y niñas víctimas de trata
El Defensor del Pueblo (e.f.), Francisco Fernández Marugán, pide reforzar la protección de los niños y niñas víctimas de trata en el Día Mundial contra la Trata, establecido por Naciones Unidas. La Institución considera necesario elaborar un protocolo nacional para la detección y protección de víctimas de trata menores de edad en el que intervengan todas las entidades de protección de menores autonómicas.

Defensoría del Pueblo identifica deficiencias en implementación de oficinas de atención a personas con discapacidad
Oficina Defensorial de Tumbes supervisó Oficinas de Atención a las Personas con Discapacidad de 10 Municipalidades Distritales, 3 Provinciales y del Gobierno Regional. Se evalúo la incorporación de estas oficinas al organigrama de las instituciones, asignación de presupuesto y personal, entre otros puntos.

CNDH requests implementation of precautionary measures to promote protection of human rights defenders and journalists
The National Commission of Human Rights (CNDH) requests the Secretariats of the Interior (SEGOB), and Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) to implement measures to avoid the disprotection, motivated by the lack of resources, of 727 beneficiaries secured by the Mechanism for the Protection of Rights Defenders Humans and Journalists (MPPDDHP).

Overly long wait times for contesting confinement for people unwillingly kept in a health institution
In a report released on October 10, 2018, the Québec Ombudsman looked into Tribunal administratif du Québec (TAQ) recourse for people kept in a health institution against their will. The investigation revealed that overly long wait times for contesting confinement jeopardize access to such recourse.
