The 10th Biennial Caribbean Ombudsman Association (CAROA) Conference and training will be held in Bermuda from 28 – 31 May 2019. Please save the dates! The proposed theme of the conference is “Strengthening the role and performance of Ombudsman and Human Rights Institutions in the Caribbean”. El 28 de julio pasado fue promulgada la ley 27.375 y publicada en Boletín Oficial de la Nación, planteando numerosas modificaciones a la ley 24.660 que regula la ejecución de las penas privativas de la libertad y también en ciertos aspectos el código penal.

IGT released report on review into the ATO’s fraud control management
The Inspector-General of Taxation (IGT), Mr Ali Noroozi, welcomes the public release of his report into the Australian Taxation Office’s (ATO) Fraud Control Management. The Parliament’s Senate Economics References Committee requested that the IGT examines the ATO’s fraud control management due to concerns surrounding allegations of tax fraud that may be linked to abuse of position by a public official.

El Inadi atenderá martes y jueves de 14 a 17 en la sede de la defensoría en Rosario
El defensor Raúl Lamberto y la delegada del Instituto Nacional contra la Discriminación, la Xenofobia y el Racismo (Inadi) en Santa Fe, Caren Schibelbein, se reunieron este martes en Rosario y acordaron que la oficina de atención comenzará la próxima semana. Destacaron que en un mismo edificio funcionarán oficinas de tres organismos dedicados a proteger los derechos fundamentales de las personas.

Hong Kong Ombudsman holds press conference on investigation reports
The Ombudsman of Hong Kong, Ms Connie Lau, held a press conference on 18 October 2018 to announce the results of a direct investigation report on “Housing Department’s arrangement for using idle spaces in public housing estates” and a full investigation report on “Transport Department’s improper arrangement for implementation of 2-way toll collection at the Lantau Link”, that caused serious traffic congestion.

The Office of the Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman (NIPSO) published the October edition of its quarterly bulletin.
