Victorian Ombudsman Deborah Glass has received a letter from the Legislative Assembly of the Victorian Parliament referring a matter for investigation and report under section 16 of the Ombudsman Act 1973. The referral requires THE Ombudsman to investigate matters concerning invoices current and former Liberal and Nationals MPs certified for payment by the Department of Parliamentary Services.

El Defensor del Pueblo, Walter Gutiérrez, manifestó que diversas políticas públicas contra la violencia hacia la mujer han venido fracasando por la falta de asignación correcta de presupuesto. “Esta es una situación que ya lleva varios gobiernos y que tiene como uno de sus orígenes la política del Ministerio de Economía y Finanzas de elaborar un presupuesto público sin rostro de mujer que no permite precisamente la realización de supervisiones y evaluaciones de estas políticas” indicó Gutiérrez.

Norman was Victoria’s second Ombudsman, following a distinguished career with the RAAF and six years as Victoria’s first Director of Consumer Affairs. We all strive to make a difference in life, but not too many people can look back on a life quite so well-lived, who helped so many thousands of people, as Charles Norman Geschke, popularly known as Norm.
