2014-09-23Ombudsman’s report on policing intoxicated and disorderly conduct
In 2014 the New South Wales Ombudsman completed a review of the operation of the offence of continuing to be intoxicated and disorderly in public. This section provides for police to issue a person with an on-the-spot fine or charge the person for continuing to be intoxicated and disorderly after the person has already been given an opportunity to comply with a formal move on direction from police. The Ombudsman’s final report was tabled in Parliament in 2014.

The European Region of the IOI held its biennial conference from 17 to 19 September 2014. The motto of the region’s 2014 conference was “The Ombudsman’s role in a democracy”. The conference was held in Tallinn and hosted by the office of the Chancellor of Justice of Estonia.
