It is absolutely vital that an Ombudsman is utterly apolitical and impartial. It is therefore particularly pleasing that Mr Field was first appointed for a five-year term in 2007 under the Carpenter Labor Government, twice reappointed under the Barnett Liberal Government and now reappointed under the McGowan Labor Government.

Ottawa, October 31, 2016 – The 43rd Annual Report of the Office of the Correctional Investigator was tabled today in Parliament. The report documents that security incidents in federal prisons involving inflammatory agents, primarily Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) or pepper spray, has tripled since 2011/12.

Howard Sapers, signale que le nombre d’incidents de sécurité comportant l’usage d’agents inflammatoires, principalement l’oléorésine de Capsicum (OC), aussi appelée vaporisateur de poivre, a triplé dans les pénitenciers fédéraux depuis 2011-2012.

Elles bénéficient d’une protection contre un retour forcé au pays, mais pas nécessairement leurs parents. À l’aube de la Journée internationale de la tolérance zéro à l'égard des mutilations génitales féminines ce 6 février, le Médiateur fédéral a adressé une recommandation à la Chambre des représentants. Chaque enfant a droit à une vie de famille.

In September 2016, the Senate passed a Bill proposing to re-establish the Australian Building and Construction Commissioner and to continue the existence of the body known as the Office of the Fair Work Building Industry Inspectorate under the name of the Australian Building and Construction Commission (ABCC). The Bill proposes a potentially broadened scope for the Ombudsman’s reviews of the exercise of coercive powers to gather information.
