Visit of the European Ombudsman
The European Ombudsman Prof. Nikiforos Diamandouros visited the Polish Ombudsman Office on 3 October 2012. During his meeting with the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Poland Prof. Irena Lipowicz, the Deputy Defenders Mr Stanisław Trociuk and Mr Ryszard Czerniawski and the Directors of the Office, the European Ombudsman explained his recent activities.

second report on the use of Tasers
This is the second comprehensive investigation that the Office of NSW Ombudsman has undertaken into the use of Taser weapons by the New South Wales Police Force (NSWPF). The first investigation was done at a time when Tasers were only used by police officers within specialist units of the NSWPF. Since that report in 2008, Taser weapons have been rolled out for use by all accredited general duties police officers in NSW.

Recently the seminar of Cooperation between Ombudsmen from Eastern Partnership Countries was held in the Office of the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Poland. Correctional Investigator treating Prison Self-injury
The 39th Annual Report of the Office of the Correctional Investigator was recently tabled in Parliament. In releasing his report, the Correctional Investigator of Canada, Mr. Howard Sapers, called attention to the dramatic increase in the number and prevalence of serious self-injury incidents in federal prisons.

Ontario Ombudsman André Marin recently called on the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services to take concrete action to support police officers across the province who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, risk of suicide and other forms of operational stress injuries.

Assisting the social reintegration of prisoners who have served their sentence requires an active attitude and expenditures both from the state and the society.
