    Queensland Ombudsman officers provide people in detention with access to an independent complaints investigation service and make visits to centres across Queensland. The Ombudsman has also released public reports about closed environments with recommendations for improvement in policy and practice.

    Another new role for the Ombudsman in New Zealand

    The Government in New Zealand has announced a proposal aimed at strengthening the independent oversight of the Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children systems and children’s issues. The package includes a proposal to give the Ombudsman an enhanced role in overseeing complaints and investigations relating to children and young people in state custody.

    Public Defender publishes first report on NPM activities

    AOB releases international edition of its annual report 2010

    The International Version of the AOB's 2010 Annual Report has now been released. It provides an outline of the activities of the three members of the AOB during the year as well as an overview of international activities, including International Ombudsman Institute (I.O.I) activities and bilateral contacts.´It also includes examples of human rights related cases which the AOB has had to resolve in 2010 when assessing complaints about maladministration and infringements of administrative law by public authorities.
