Office of the Ombudsman hosts Hackathon - "Cracking the Challenge: 'Connecting children and youth with the Office of the Ombudsman' "
On 16 May 2023, the first Hackathon of its kind was held at the Office of the State Comptroller and Ombudsman in Jerusalem. Students from institutions for higher education throughout the country, and from different disciplines, joined forces in work teams to brainstorm and find a solution to the challenge set before them: How to connect children and youth with the Office of the Ombudsman? How to acquaint them with the work of the Office and encourage them to use the services of the Office, for themselves and for those around them?

Office of the Ombudsman launches 2022/23 Annual report
The Ombudsman Hong Kong published its 2022/23 Annual report in July 2023. According to the institution, the Office has maintained uninterrupted public access to the services. They met all targets of performance as pledged, with 5,357 complaints received and 5,323 complains concluded in 2022.

Leonardo Cardoso de Magalhães has been inaugurated as the new Federal Public Defender-General of Brazil, following a democratic selection process involving the confidential votes by all DPU members and formal confirmation by the Parliament. His inauguration took place at the Palácio do Planalto, the official workplace of the President of Brazil, in Brasília.

The Seimas Ombudspersons’ Office publishes its Annual Report 2022
The implementation of the mission of the Seimas Ombudspersons continued successfully in 2022, with the three main objectives assigned to the Ombudspersons: investigating citizens‘ complaints of abuse and bureaucracy by state and municipal officials (except judges), the prevention of torture and the functions of the national human rights institution. These objectives were presented in the recently published annual report 2022.

The "Guide to Inclusive Language and the Promotion of Human Rights in the Federal Public Defenders’ Office" was created as a tool to guide civil servants, defenders, outsourced workers and trainees in using the appropriate language for an institution that defends human rights.
