Control Yuan holds workshop on the rights of people with disabilities
The Control Yuan organized the “2018 Workshop on the Rights of People with Disabilities” on December 7, gathering together representatives of people with disabilities, relevant government agencies and civil organizations, as well as expert scholars in related fields to discuss ways of fostering a disability-friendly environment so as to enhance protection of the rights of persons with disabilities.

Second Ombudsman appointed
On 17 December 2018 Ms Gwendoline E. Mossel took the oath of office before Parliament. Ms Mossel has officially assumed her post as the country’s second Ombudsman on 1 January 2019. She follows Dr. Rachnilda Arduin, who was honorably discharged on 31 December 2018.

ACRC conducts integrity perception survey at middle and high schools
ACRC conducted an integrity perception survey of 1,925 students at 97 middle and high schools to utilize the results in formulating anti-corruption policies to improve perceptions of the future generation. 64,7% of the youth said that making improper solicitations for the benefits of a certain person is "absolutely unacceptable".

The Province of Nova Scotia has appointed Christine Brennan as Ombudsman. Ms. Brennan is an experienced leader who most recently served as acting Ombudsman. The appointment, for a term of five years, is effective immediately.

Le Comité des droits de l’enfant de l’ONU sanctionne la France pour l’absence de protection d’un mineur non accompagné qui se trouvait à la rue. Le Défenseur des droits, qui est mécanisme de suivi indépendant de l’application de la CIDE en France et garant du respect des droits de l’enfant protégé par cette Convention, est intervenu dans la procédure.
