IOI President and Secretary General take part in ENO Conference 2018
Irish Ombudsman and IOI President Peter Tyndall and Austrian Ombudsman and IOI Secretary General Günther Kräuter took part in the annual European Network of Ombudsman Conference on 8-9 March 2018 in Brussels. The conference topics were the future of the EU, current and future challenges for Ombudsmen and cross-border problem solving for EU citizens.

The Ombudsman of the Cayman Islands invites applications for a temporary appointment to the position of Deputy Ombudsman (Complaints). Second annual open meeting of the UK’s Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman
Last year the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman hosted its first annual open meeting for users of its service which provided a platform to hear about and feedback on the work of the Ombudsman. The second annual open meeting will take place on 22 May 2018 in London presenting a further opportunity to hear about its work and future plans.

Les sociétés de distribution d’eau procèdent à la pose d’un limiteur de débit d’eau lorsqu’après plusieurs rappels, la personne n’honore pas ses factures d’eau. Contrairement à l’interruption de fourniture d’eau, le limiteur de débit permet de garder un certain accès à l’eau. Le Médiateur a publié des recommendations en la matière.

Ombudsman Nilda Arduin and Council of Advice member retired banker Jan Beaujon were appointed “informateurs” on Thursday by Governor Eugene Holiday. Arduin and Beaujon will research the possibilities for the formation of a new government for the country that is supported by the broadest possible majority in Parliament.

A raíz de una denuncia efectuada por la PPN, dos agentes penitenciarios fueron procesados por apremios ilegales. La Sala II de la Cámara Federal de Apelaciones de La Plata confirma el procesamiento de dos agentes penitenciarios por la comisión del delito de apremios ilegales y destaca la labor de la PPN en la denuncia de las prácticas sistemáticas de hechos de malos tratos y tortura en cárceles federales.

La Defensora se reunió con Diputados por niñas y niños sin cuidados parentales
La Defensora de Niñas, Niños y Adolescentes de la Provincia de Santa Fe, Analía Colombo, concurrió este martes a la Comisión de Derechos y Garantías de la Cámara de Diputados de Santa Fe, por la convocatoria que efectuaran algunos legisladores. La funcionaria asistió acompañada del Defensor del Pueblo, Raúl Lamberto, y su equipo técnico y del encuentro participaron los legisladores Alicia Gutierrez, Carlos Del Frade, Silvia Augsburger, Verónica Benas, Santiago Mascheroni, Alejandro Boscarol, Claudia Moyano y Patricia Tepp.

Commencement of the Ombudsman Act 2017
The new Ombudsman Act 2017 commenced on 31 January 2018. The coming into effect of this new Act means that any person who is unhappy about how any government office deals with them, can complain to the Ombudsman. Furthermore, the Ombudsman is empowered by this new Act to not only investigate appropriate complaints that it received but can also initiate investigations on its own from information received from any other source including the media.
