Kazakh Ombudsman institution visits Austrian Ombudsman Board
On 28 October 2010, a delegation of the Kazakh Ombudsman institution visited the Austrian Ombudsman Board. “The valuable exchange of ideas with the Kazakh experts reflects their interest to get to know successful Ombudsman models like the one in Austria”, said the Chairman of the Austrian Ombudsman Board, Dr. Peter Kostelka, after the visit.

The I.O.I. Board of Directors meeting is taking place in Bermuda from 16 to 20 October 2010 and is hosted by the Bermuda ombudsman Arlene Brock.

SYT training in Vienna fully booked
The I.O.I. General Secretariat will be hosting a first training programme in Vienna from 14 to 17 November 2010. So far 40 staff members of ombudsman institutions coming from 17 countries and four I.O.I. world regions have confirmed their participation.

Arne Fliflet new on the European Board
The Norwegian Ombudsman Arne Fliflet recently became member of the European Board by a vote in the General Assembly of the European region of the I.O.I. Arne Fliflet replaces the Greek Ombudsman Yorgos Kaminis in this function. Fliflet was elected Norwegian Ombudsman for the first time in 1990. He has subsequently been re-elected five times, the last appointment being in 2009.

Stockholm 2009 - Conference Papers
The 9th IOI World Conference held in Stockholm in June 2009 convened 340 delegates and observers from more than 90 countries. Key note addresses were delivered by the former Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr Kofi A. Annan and the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Ms Navanethem Pillay. The papers are available online.
