Después del comunicado de un traslado masivo de 156 detenidos el pasado 17 de mayo, el titular del Juzgado Federal N°2 de la provincia de Neuquén hizo lugar a un Habeas Corpus presentado por la Procuración Penitenciaria de la Nación y dictó una medida cautelar en favor de las personas privadas de libertad.

Lamberto presentará este miercoles las oficinas móviles de la Defensoría del Pueblo
El defensor del Pueblo de la provincia de Santa Fe, Raúl Lamberto, presentará este miércoles a las 8.15 en la plaza Pringles de la ciudad de Rosario (Córdoba entre Roca y Rioja) dos vehículos con los que la institución comenzará a realizar atención a la ciudadanía de manera itinerante por barrios y localidades de toda la provincia de Santa Fe. Los móviles cuentan con todo lo necesario para que profesionales de la Defensoría se desplacen hasta diferentes puntos para escuchar y responder los planteos de los ciudadanos, acercando de esta manera el organismo a todos los santafesinos.

Ontario Ombudsman offers special IOI rate for November SYT training
The Ontario Ombudsman has opened registration for "Sharpening Your Teeth: Advanced Investigative Training for Administrative Watchdogs” training course, and is offering a special rate for IOI members. Register today by emailing training@ombudsman.on.ca. The course takes place November 5-7, 2018, in Toronto, Ontario and covers investigation planning, interviewing, assessing evidence, report writing, and using digital and social media tools to conduct and publicize an investigation.

On 30 April 2018 the IOI marked the 40th anniversary of its foundation with a side event at the United Nations in New York, to launch “A Mission for Justice – The International Ombudsman Institute 1978-2018”, a book by Richard Carver to portray the history of the organization and its development over the past 40 years. La ONG Transparencia Internacional publicó el 21 de febrero de 2018 el Índice de Percepción de la Corrupción (CPI, siglas en inglés) 2017. Taiwán se clasificó en el puesto 29 de entre 180 países y se situó como el 4º país menos corrupto en Asia, consiguiendo su mejor récord en los últimos seis años.

Condenan a cuatro funcionarios penitenciarios por el incendio que provocó la muerte de dos detenidos
Fueron condenados a la pena de dos años de prisión en suspenso, acusados por el delito de homicidio culposo agravado. Es la única sentencia contra funcionarios penitenciarios federales por la muerte de personas detenidas recaída en los años recientes, y la primera en la que este organismo participó como querellante.

Discussing EU’s role towards the Sustainable Development Goals
The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) took part in the conference ‘SDGs, Climate and the Future of Europe’ on 31 May in Milan, organised by the Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development. The meeting discussed the key role that the EU can play towards advancing the 2030 agenda and will feed into a European Commission reflection paper on the subject.

Parliamentary Ombudsman presents Annual Report 2017 to the President of the House of Representatives
The Parliamentary Ombudsman, Mr Anthony C. Mifsud, called upon the President of the House of Representatives, the Hon. Angelo Farrugia to present the Office of the Ombudsman’s Annual Report for 2016. During the meeting with the Speaker, the Ombudsman announced that during the Annual General Meeting of the Association of Mediterranean Ombudsman in Skopje, Macedonia, he was appointed as Secretary General of the Association.
