Control Yuan President Chang Po-ya led Control Yuan members on a visit to the Executive Yuan for an annual review of the executive branch of government on 26 December 2017. The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Justice and Ministry of the Interior and their subordinate agencies received the most corrective measures at 13 each, followed by the Ministry of Education and its subordinate agencies at 12 corrective measures.

Human rights have no expiration date - better protection needed in elderly homes
Lack of staff in homes for older persons in long-term care as well as their lack of knowledge on human rights are the main causes of violation of rights in these institutions. The beneficiaries are satisfied with accommodation quality and they consider the staff to be the strongest link in the institutional chain, emphasised Ombudswoman Lora Vidović at the opening of the conference „Human rights have no expiration date – living in homes for older and handicapped“ organised on 8 December at the Elderly home Centar in Zagreb.

Campagne de sensibilisation aux droits de l’enfant à Madagascar, un projet soutenu par l’AOMF
La Région du Sud de Madagascar est durement touchée par la sécheresse et elle concentre le plus grand nombre d’enfants en détresse à cause de la famine. En novembre 2016, le bureau du Médiateur a mené une campagne de sensibilisation dans quatre localités situées dans le sud de Madagascar. L’action était orientée vers les responsables locaux ainsi que les parents pour qu’ils prennent en compte l’amélioration des conditions de vie des enfants dans leur programme.

El Defensor del Pueblo inicia una actuación de oficio para examinar la situación de las residencias de mayores
El Defensor del Pueblo (e.f.), Francisco Fernández Marugán, ha iniciado una actuación de oficio con todas las Comunidades Autónomas y las Ciudades Autónomas de Ceuta y Melilla para examinar las características y dotación de las residencias de mayores. Al Defensor del Pueblo le preocupa especialmente la situación de estas personas y considera que la edad de la población y la aplicación de la Ley de Dependencia convierten a los servicios de atención residencial en un elemento fundamental en la atención a estas personas.

Emite CNDH recomendación al gobierno de Oaxaca, Fiscalía general del estado, Comisionado Nacional de Seguridad y Procurados General de la Repúblic, por violaciones graves a derechos humanos en los hechos de violencia ocurridos en Nochixtlán, Oaxaca, el pasado 16 de junio de 2016. El operativo para liberar vialidades no fue debidamente diseñado, preparado, coordinado y ejecutado, ni se observaron plenamente los protocolos de actuación, sobre todo por lo que hace al uso legítimo de la fuerza y la necesidad de priorizar mecanismos y técnicas no violentas antes de utilizar la fuerza contra la población.
