The Constitutional Court repealed the provisions of the Mental Health Act at the Ombudsman’s request
The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia repealed a part of the Mental Health Act at its session on 10 June 2015. The third sentence of the second paragraph of Article 74 is repealed, namely the provision defining that on behalf of a person who has been deprived of their capacity to conclude contracts, consent for admission to a secure ward is given by a legal representative. It also repealed the third sentence of the third paragraph of Article 74 of this Act, i.e. the provision regulating that only the legal representative of the person in a secure ward may withdraw such consent at any time or request that the person be released from the ward.

National Ombudsman notes Points for Improvement in Repatriation Process
A study by the National Ombudsman regarding repatriation processes concludes that some aspects of this procedure can be improved. The Ombudsman has made recommendations to the State Secretary of Security and Justice with regard to the availability of medical care, the accessibility of the complaints procedure, and the exchange of information. In his report, he also advocates multidisciplinary supervision of the entire repatriation process as well as standard investigation of incidents.

Victoria Pearman, Ombudsman for Bermuda, has submitted her Annual Report for 2020 to the Speaker of the House of Assembly in accordance with her statutory duty under the Ombudsman Act 2004. The Report was tabled in the House of Assembly this morning and is available to the public.

La nueva titular del Valedor do Pobo, Milagros Otero Parga, tomará posesión del cargo en un acto institucional que se celebrará el próximo 2 de septiembre en el Pazo do Hórreo, sede del Parlamento de Galicia. La Academia Internacional contra la Corrupción con sede en Austria (International Anti-Corruption Academy, IACA) presenta un nuevo programa de siete días para profesionales que buscan afilar sus esfuerzos de anticorrupción. El programa se llevará a cabo en Buenos Aires (Argentina) del 21 al 27 de noviembre de 2015. Petri Jääskeläinen, the Parliamentary Ombudsman, presented the Parliamentary Ombudsman's Annual Report 2020 to Anu Vehviläinen, Speaker of Parliament, on Thursday 17 June. Like the previous year, a record number of complaints were received in 2020, in total 7,059. This is around 800 (13%) more than in 2019 (6,267).

A Victorian Ombudsman investigation has found prisoner disciplinary hearings are still done “in the dark” and the potential for unfairness remains rife. The probe into the prison disciplinary process, which deals with prisoners who break prison rules, also found prisoners with mental health issues and cognitive impairment were not always offered adequate support and information.
