On 19 May 2011, the Greek Parliament elected Ms Calliope Spanou as the new Greek Ombudsman. Ms Spanou who was Deputy Ombudsman for state - citizen relations since 2003, has been acting Ombudsman since September 2010, following the resignation of the former Greek Ombudsman, Mr Yorgos Kaminis, who was elected Mayor of Athens in November 2010.

Mr. Rajmanlal Joseph was appointed the 5th Ombudsman of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago for a period of 3 years. Mr. Joseph succeeded Mr. Patrick Mark Wellington who served as Ombudsman from 2018 to 2021.

A 71-year-old cancer patient died after a Health Board provided her with a “very poor standard of care”, the Public Services Ombudsman for Wales has found. The Ombudsman launched an investigation after receiving a complaint about the care given to Mrs X (anonymised) in December 2019 by Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.

The Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman (NIPSO) is delighted to announce the launch of a collaborative research project examining the role of ombudspersons in the protection of refugees and asylum seekers (the OPRAS project). In order to carry out the OPRAS project the University of Glasgow has received funding from the British Academy and is being carried out in collaboration with Professor Chris Gill.
