Examen par les Nations Unies de la mise en œuvre de la CIDPH
Du 18 au 23 août 2021, le Comité des droits des personnes handicapées des Nations-Unies examinera le rapport initial de la France sur la mise en œuvre de la Convention relative aux droits des personnes handicapées (CIDPH). Le Défenseur des droits, a remis dans un rapport parallèle faisant état d’un bilan contrasté de la mise en œuvre de la CIDPH en matière d’effectivité des droits des personnes handicapées.

In October 2015, representatives of national institutions of 20 countries of the world unanimously adopted the Kyiv Declaration on the "Role of NHRIs in Conflict and Post-conflict Situations" following results of work of a two-day international conference of the same name.

Foro sobre mecanismo de prevención de la tortura y derechos humanos en el sector pesquero
El 23 de junio de 2021, la Comisión Nacional de Derechos Humanos (NHRC, siglas en inglés) invitó a expertos nacionales e internacionales, consultores, organizaciones no gubernamentales y representantes de agencias gubernamentales, a los que dividió en tres seminarios según diferentes temas. El foro se celebró por videoconferencia en respuesta a los requerimientos para la prevención de epidemias.

International Ombudsman Institute mourns loss of former Secretary General Günther Kräuter
Former IOI Secretary General Günther Kräuter passed this Saturday, 7 August 2021. Mr Kräuter suffered a severe medical incident while hiking in his home country of Austria. He was 64 years old.

Ombudsman’s staff attends training on monitoring the rights of the child
In recent days, the Ombudsman Office in coordination with UNICEF country office launched five day training on increasing capacities to monitor the child rights for the members of the national preventive group and heads of the Regional Offices of the Ombudsman. UNICEF international experts Mr. Reider Hiermann and Ms. Anna Nordenmark were involved into this event as trainers.

11th World Conference 2016 – Save the Date
The 11th IOI World Conference will be held in Bangkok, Thailand from 13 to 19 November 2016. The Office of the Ombudsman of Thailand will be the host of this quadrennial event which – for the first time – will be held within the Asian Region of the IOI.

Veterans Ombudsman urges more Information to on disability benefit decisions
Veterans Ombudsman Guy Parent released today an assessment of Veterans Affairs Canada’s implementation of the eight recommendations put forth in his 2011 report on “Veterans’ Right to Know Reasons for Decisions: A Matter of Procedural Fairness” and in his 2012 report on “Veterans’ Right to Disclosure: A Matter of Procedural Fairness”. The two reports identified areas of improvement needed to ensure transparency and fairness in Veterans Affairs Canada’s disability application and adjudication process.
