Successful regional consultation
The By-Laws-Reform is now entering the next stage. The recently completed regional consultation will now be followed up by a Board meeting in Hong Kong in May 2012. The primary focus of this meeting will be to consider the results of the regional consultation and provide the membership after this meeting with a final draft of new IOI by-laws taking members' concerns and proposals into account.

The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) published a report that identifies the specific barriers and experiences of unequal treatment in accessing healthcare that people may face because of a combination of their traits (e.g. ethnic origin, gender, age and disability).

Constultations on new Act on police investigations
The Québec Ombudsperson appeared before the National Assembly Committee on Institutions for consultations on a bill respecting independent police investigations. She gave nine recommendations to improve Bill 46 in the interest of the public and the police.

Violence against women undermines women’s core fundamental rights such as dignity, access to justice and gender equality. For example, one in three women has experienced physical and/or sexual violence since the age of 15; one in five women has experienced stalking; every second woman has been confronted with one or more forms of sexual harassment.
