The new Ombudsman Act 2017 commenced on 31 January 2018. The coming into effect of this new Act means that any person who is unhappy about how any government office deals with them, can complain to the Ombudsman. Furthermore, the Ombudsman is empowered by this new Act to not only investigate appropriate complaints that it received but can also initiate investigations on its own from information received from any other source including the media.

Ombudsman received Ambassador of Kingdom of Netherlands
Elmira Suleymanova, the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) received Onno Kervers, Ambasador of the Kingdom of Netherlands to Azerbaijan. The Commissioner gave information about the establishment of the Ombudsman Office in Azerbaijan and informed the Ambassador about the Twinning Project to “Strengthening the capacities of the Commissioner for Human Rights”, which lasted for the past 24 months.

Enfants & hôpital : le Défenseur des droits parrain du concours SPARADRAP
Le Défenseur des droits est parrain du 4e concours initié par l’association Sparadrap, qui récompensera des actions renforçant le lien et la présence des proches auprès des jeunes hospitalisés. Les dossiers peuvent être déposés jusqu’au 1er février 2019. L’association SPARADRAP œuvre depuis 25 ans pour « aider les enfants à avoir moins peur et moins mal pendant les soins et à l'hôpital ».
