2021-12-10Charging patients that have declined Covid-19 vaccine for “missed appointment”
The Parliamentary Ombudsman directs criticism towards Kalmar Regional Council for charging patients that have declined the covid-19 vaccine for not arriving to their scheduled appointment. If a patient, that has a booked appointment to receive vaccination against covid-19 has refused the vaccine that has been offered, Kalmar Regional Council has charged a fee for missed visits pursuant to chapter 17, section 1 of the Health and Medical Services Act.

Raúl Lamberto juró este jueves como Defensor del Pueblo de la provincia de Santa Fe en una sesión conjunta de la Legislatura provincial. De esta manera, cumplió el paso formal para asumir el cargo para el cual había sido votado en Asamblea Legislativa por una amplia mayoría, tras ser propuesto por el Ejecutivo. El doctor Lamberto señaló que asume la titularidad del organismo con “mucha expectativa, porque el cargo es muy importante y la Defensoría es una institución privilegiada, que tiene una muy buena consideración ciudadana”.

We are pleased to announce that on November 15, 2021, the Public Defender of Georgia, for the first time in the history of the Public Defender’s Office, has started fulfilling the duties of a member of the Board of Directors of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI). The Public Defender’s Office will represent the European region in the Board. The Office was elected a member of the European region in 2019. The Board of Directors oversees the organization's activities and makes decisions about its future activities.

The Victorian Ombudsman released her latest Investigation into decision-making under the Victorian Border Crossing Permit Directions. The report shows rather than fairly considering individual circumstances and risks, the exemptions scheme was a blunt instrument that resulted in unjust outcomes, potentially for thousands of people. Some found themselves effectively homeless and caught up in a bureaucratic nightmare. More than 300 complainants told their stories as part of the investigation.
