On Tuesday 11 July 2023, the Chief Ombudsman of Thailand hosted the International Seminar, “Asian Ombudsman as a Mechanism for Promoting Fair Administration, Good Governance and the Rule of Law". IOI President Chris Field PSM had the great honour of providing a Special Lecture, “The IOI as a mechanism for promoting fair administration, good governance and the rule of law”. He was also delighted to Chair the Panel Discussion, “The importance of Ombudsman’s accountability, independence and transparency in establishing a peaceful society”.

The Ombudsman, Ms Winnie Chiu, presented the 2022-23 Annual Report of the Office of The Ombudsman to the public on 12 July 2023. The Office received 766 pandemic-related complaints in the year of 2022-23, accounting for about 14% of the total number of complaints, a hike from 206 last year.

Catalan Ombudsman Rafael Ribó submitted a report on “Child malnutrition in Catalonia”, in which he alleges that - according to the ICS diagnostic codes of June 2013 - 50,000 children have food deprivation and 750 suffer from malnutrition and poverty and calls for urgent Government action to guarantee the right of children to adequate food.
