Ombudsman’s office marks 40 years of helping citizens, improving governance
The Office of the Ontario Ombudsman celebrated 40 years of helping citizens resolve issues with the provincial government on 30 October 2015. The occasion comes as the office embarks on an historic expansion of its mandate – something the first Ombudsman began calling for in 1975.

Reunión de la Comisión Asesora encargada de elaborar un informe sobre los abusos sexuales en el ámbito de la Iglesia católica
Miembros de la Unidad del Defensor del Pueblo de Atención a las Víctimas se desplazarán a zonas de residencia de quienes deseen ofrecer su testimonio sobre abusos sexuales en el ámbito de la Iglesia católica. Así, en el mes de noviembre tienen previsto desplazarse a Barcelona (3-9), Sevilla (17-18) y Vigo (28-29-30), tras haber acudido ya a Pamplona, Zaragoza y Toledo. Las salidas se realizan cuando existe un número significativo de solicitudes por parte de las víctimas en una ciudad o provincia.

African Ombuds Institutes Working for Peace, Security, and Development
Ombuds institutes have a special role in the social justice landscape of their countries that enables them to make significant contributions to the achievement of the SDGs and help close the global justice gap. A recent workshop allowed participating ombuds institutes to share their efforts to improve security sector governance as a core element of realizing SDG 16 on peaceful, just, and inclusive societies.
