On 25 January 2021, the Macedonian Assembly elected Mr. Naser Ziberi as the new Ombudsman of North Macedonia for an eight-year mandate. In his brief introductory speech, Mr. Ziberi stressed that he is honored and privileged to serve as an Ombudsman and pledged to carry ahead the work of his predecessors Ixhet Memeti.

2020-03-19Recomendación para prevenir Coronavirus en prisión
El Procurador Penitenciario de la Nación, Francisco Mugnolo, recomendó la elaboración de un protocolo para la prevención del Coronavirus (COVID-19) a fin de garantizar la salud y protección de las personas detenidas. Solicitó a las autoridades penitenciarias tomar las medidas correspondientes de higiene y salubridad en las distintas dependencias de detención. La propuesta se suma a la reciente acordada de la Cámara Federal de Casación Penal.

The COVID-19 pandemic tested state and local governments in ways never imagined, and the proof was in the complaints. The Iowa Office of Ombudsman received a surge of citizen complaints on all manner of issues related to COVID: slow decisions on unemployment claims, the closure of public buildings, difficulties in access to social services – even a stoppage of garbage collection. The challenges were detailed in the Ombudsman’s fiscal year 2020 annual report, released today.

This is the highest attainable status according to the Principles, which were adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1993.

2021-02-01The Chancellor of Justice received the highest international recognition
The Chancellor of Justice received the A-status accreditation as a national human rights institution by the GANHRI Sub-Committee on Accreditation (SCA). The decision on accreditation was preceded by a submission of a comprehensive statement on the independence, mandate and composition of the institution of the Chancellor of Justice, and an oral hearing by the SCA in December last year.
