El defensor del Pueblo, Raúl Lamberto, dejó inaugurada una nueva oficina de atención en la localidad de Tostado. “Aspiramos a tener una oficina de la Defensoría en cada uno de los 19 departamentos y este es un paso más en ese sentido”, afirmó Lamberto a la vez destacó que esta nueve sede “fue posible por la generación de alianzas, en este caso entre la Legislatura y el Senado de la provincia”.

Ombudsman receives over 3,000 complaints about public services
Ombudsman Peter Tyndall received 3,021 complaints about providers of public services last year. The Ombudsman’s annual report for 2017 was published on Wednesday 20 June and shows that the sectors that were the most complained about in 2017 were: Government Departments/Offices (953 complaints), Local Authorities (852 complaints) and Health and social care sector (608 complaints).

El día 18 de mayo de 2018 la Sala I de la Cámara Federal de Casación Penal resolvió hacer lugar a un recurso interpuesto por la Procuración Penitenciaria de la Nación en el marco de una acción de habeas corpus en la que se cuestionaba, entre otras temáticas, el trato recibido por las personas que visitan a los detenidos alojados en la Unidad Nº 19, especialmente las mujeres, quienes eran sometidas a registros personales manuales que implicaban el desnudo y prácticas invasivas, vejatorias y humillantes.

El operativo estuvo a cargo de 400 profesionales encabezados por el Defensor del Pueblo Alejandro Amor, que permanecieron en la Plaza del Congreso y sus alrededores desde las 11 de la mañana de día miércoles 13 de junio hasta las 8 de la mañana siguiente mientras la Cámara de Diputados de la Nación debatía el proyecto de ley de interrupción voluntaria del embarazo. Después del comunicado de un traslado masivo de 156 detenidos el pasado 17 de mayo, el titular del Juzgado Federal N°2 de la provincia de Neuquén hizo lugar a un Habeas Corpus presentado por la Procuración Penitenciaria de la Nación y dictó una medida cautelar en favor de las personas privadas de libertad.

BC Ombudsperson completes monitoring of government’s implementation of recommendations
The Ombudsperson British Columbia (BC) released the final investigative update to his office’s 2017 report Misfire: The 2012 Ministry of Health Employment Terminations and Related Matters. The update concludes that all of the report’s 41 recommendations to the provincial government are now implemented.

Ombudsman SA reaches 50
2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the Ombudsman South Australia (SA). The Ombudsman Act 1972 was assented to on 23 November 1972 and the Office opened its doors to the public on 14 December 1972. At that time, South Australia was only the second Australian jurisdiction after Western Australia to install a parliamentary Ombudsman (although South Australia was the first to use the title ‘Ombudsman’). Now all States, Territories and the Commonwealth have an Ombudsman.
