Iowa Ombudsman reports special Investigation
Iowa State Ombudsman Ruth Cooperrider received a complaint on February 22, 2010, concerning the manner in which the mayor and several city council members for the City of Monticello attempted to remove the city administrator from his position. Alima Déborah TRAORE new Ombudsperson
On 22 June 2011, the President of Faso has nominated Alima Déborah Traore as the new Ombudsperson, after her predecessor, Amina Ouedraogo, retired. Alima Traore is an expert in public law and the relations between the public administration and the citizens.

Free SYT training for I.O.I. members
A regional subvention was granted to the North American region to hold a two-day SYT training workshop in October 2011 prior to the United States Ombudsman Annual (USOA) Conference. Ombudsman recommends criminalisation of homophobic offences
The Ombudsman recently recommended that offences against the person and discriminatory acts where homophobia is the main motivation be criminalised. He underscores that in most EU Member States' legislations, homophobia is an aggravating circumstance or a constituent element of the offence.

Ms Calliope Spanou new Ombudsman
On 19 May 2011, the Greek Parliament elected Ms Calliope Spanou as the new Greek Ombudsman. Ms Spanou who was Deputy Ombudsman for state - citizen relations since 2003, has been acting Ombudsman since September 2010, following the resignation of the former Greek Ombudsman, Mr Yorgos Kaminis, who was elected Mayor of Athens in November 2010.

Ontario Ombudsman releases topical Annual Report
In the course of presenting his Annual Report 2010-2011 Ontario Ombudsman André Marin called on the government of Ontario to embrace the worldwide trend toward open government, noting that many of his investigations of government organizations revealed a lack of transparency and accountability to Ontarians.
