2021-07-15Ombudsman sees more data, police and whistleblower complaints
The Office of the Ombudsman’s annual report for 2020 was made public in Parliament on 14 July 2021. During 2020, the office fielded a total of 332 enquiries from members of the public, opened 231 cases for either investigation or informal resolution and resolved 210 cases. By way of comparison, the office opened 30 more cases overall during 2020 than in 2019, despite the pandemic and government lockdown during the second quarter.

2015-11-13La Defensoría del Pueblo registró 214 conflictos sociales durante el mes de octubre
La Defensoría del Pueblo presentó el Reporte de Conflictos Sociales N° 140, correspondiente al mes de octubre de 2015, el cual da cuenta –entre otros aspectos- que durante ese período se registraron 214 conflictos sociales (151 activos y 63 latentes). Respecto al mes anterior vemos que se incorporaron dos casos nuevos, dos reactivados, se resolvieron dos, dos casos salieron del registro debido a su inactividad prolongada y dos casos pasaron de estado activo a latente.

Commenting on the Local Government Ombudsman's report highlighting the number of complaints it has received about adult social care in 2014/15, and the reasons behind the complaints, Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman Julie Mellor confirms that the number of unresolved complaints receive about the NHS in England and UK government departments is steadily increasing.

2015-11-12Adult social care complaints to the Ombudsman on the increase
The Local Government Ombudsman (LGO) is publishing its complaints statistics for adult social care – including data for both councils and private care providers – in its Annual Review of Adult Social Care Complaints 2014/15. The report is being published as part of the LGO’s role as the social care ombudsman, to encourage transparency and accountability across the whole adult social care complaints system.

The Office of the Ontario Ombudsman celebrated 40 years of helping citizens resolve issues with the provincial government on 30 October 2015. The occasion comes as the office embarks on an historic expansion of its mandate – something the first Ombudsman began calling for in 1975.

2015-11-03Ombudsman Hong Kong commends positive attitudes towards complaint management
On 29 October 2015, Hong Kong Ombudsman Connie Lau, announced at the 19th Ombudsman’s Awards Presentation Ceremony that the Immigration Department (ImmD) has won this year’s Grand Award, while the Correctional Services Department (CSD) and the Legal Aid Department (LAD) are the runners-up. Individual awards were given to 50 public officers for their outstanding performance in providing quality customer service. More than 200 guests from various government departments and public organisations attended the annual presentation ceremony.

Victoria Pearman, Ombudsman for Bermuda, has submitted her Annual Report for 2020 to the Speaker of the House of Assembly in accordance with her statutory duty under the Ombudsman Act 2004. The Report was tabled in the House of Assembly this morning and is available to the public.

The 1st Vice-President of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) Diane Welborn, also Ombudsman of Dayton and Montgomery County of Ohio State in the U.S., visited the Control Yuan (CY) on the morning of 27 October 2015. She also spoke at the CY on the recent trends and challenges facing the IOI.
