CY Committee on Educational and Cultural Affairs Focusing on Achievements in Earthquake Engineering Research and Volcanic Monitoring
The Control Yuan Educational and Cultural Committee conducted circuit supervision on 24 April 2023, led by convener Pasuya Poiconx, accompanied by CY Vice-President Lee Hung-chun and a delegation of Control Yuan members. They visited the Taipei Laboratory of the National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering (NCREE) and the Taiwan Volcano Observatory at Tatun as well as the Xiaoyoukeng Volcano Continuous Gas Monitoring Station.

IOI President Field addresses a Press Conference on the occasion of the 2023 Asia Region Meeting and International Seminar
IOI President Chris Field PSM had the great pleasure of addressing a Press Conference with his valued friends and colleagues, the Chief Ombudsman of Thailand and President of the Asia Region, Mr Somsak Suwansujarit, and the Ombudsman of the Sindh Province and World Board Director, Mr Ajaz Ali Khan. President Field also joined his colleagues for a separate Q & A session with the media. President Field was further delighted to undertake an interview for Radio Thailand.

President Field provides a Special Lecture at an International Seminar on the occasion of the 2023 Asia Region meeting of the IOI
On Tuesday 11 July 2023, the Chief Ombudsman of Thailand hosted the International Seminar, “Asian Ombudsman as a Mechanism for Promoting Fair Administration, Good Governance and the Rule of Law". IOI President Chris Field PSM had the great honour of providing a Special Lecture, “The IOI as a mechanism for promoting fair administration, good governance and the rule of law”. He was also delighted to Chair the Panel Discussion, “The importance of Ombudsman’s accountability, independence and transparency in establishing a peaceful society”.

Taxpayers’ Ombudsperson to monitor and examine issues related to CRA communications about the collection of COVID-related benefit overpayments
On 4 May 2023, the Taxpayers' Ombudsperson, Mr. François Boileau, announced his intention to closely monitor complaints received at his office concerning individuals who have already paid back COVID-related benefit overpayments to the Government of Canada yet are still receiving collection letters from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
