Le Comité des droits de l’enfant de l’ONU sanctionne la France pour l’absence de protection d’un mineur non accompagné qui se trouvait à la rue. Le Défenseur des droits, qui est mécanisme de suivi indépendant de l’application de la CIDE en France et garant du respect des droits de l’enfant protégé par cette Convention, est intervenu dans la procédure.

Comparative study on digitalization of public services and the role of Ombudsman – podcast episode and article now available
The University of Applied Sciences Vienna (FH Campus Wien) has conducted a study on the role of Ombudsman institutions in the context of the growing digitalization of public services worldwide, to which IOI members contributed by filling in an online survey and by participating in interviews. Prof.(FH) Dr. Julia Dahlvik, the researcher behind this study, has now published a first article on her preliminary findings in a scientific journal and also featured in a podcast episode of the "Law in Action" podcast. Man overcharged for hospital stay complains to Ombudsman
A man complained to Ombudsman Peter Tyndall after he was charged 1,500€ for a number of hospital stays. This was despite a cap of 750€ on such charges at the time. The man, who suffers from a severe kidney condition, was admitted to two different hospitals over 12 months. He spent a total of 30 nights in hospital. At the time there was a 75€ per day charge for a hospital stay.

Ombudsman issues guide for care providers on good record keeping
The Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman issued a guide to help care providers learn from its complaints involving record keeping. The new guide focuses on a number of case studies highlighting the common issues the Ombudsman sees, and also includes good practice tips to help providers avoid the problems from occurring in their own settings.
