The University of Applied Sciences Vienna (FH Campus Wien) has conducted a study on the role of Ombudsman institutions in the context of the growing digitalization of public services worldwide, to which IOI members contributed by filling in an online survey and by participating in interviews. Prof.(FH) Dr. Julia Dahlvik, the researcher behind this study, has now published a first article on her preliminary findings in a scientific journal and also featured in a podcast episode of the "Law in Action" podcast. On Tuesday 8 January IOI President and Irish Ombudsman Peter Tyndall appeared before the UK Parliament’s Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee. Mr Tyndall was giving his observations on the performance of the UK Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman. This followed a peer review of the PHSO which Mr Tyndall chaired with Caroline Mitchell (Lead Ombudsman Financial Ombudsman Service) and Chris Gill (lecturer, University of Glasgow).

2023-02-09Ombudsman attends symposium of Justice and Accountability Programme
The Office of the Ombudsman attended the closing symposium of the 5 year Justice and Accountability Programme called Chilungamo at Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe. Through this program, the office received funding to implement seven main activities which were packaged into four strategic areas of resolution of backlog of cases, public awareness, stakeholder engagement and capacity building.
