The Catalan Ombudsman, Rafael Ribó, has presented the Catalan experience during the International Symposium on Language Rights and Social Cohesion in Multilingual Societies, held in Barcelona on 19 and 20 March and organized by the Ombudsman himself, along with the IALC (International Association of Language Commissioners).

Ombudsman announces results of direct investigation operation into Government’s regulation of occupational safety and health in construction industry
On 16 April 2025, the Ombudsman, Mr Jack Chan, announced the completion of a direct investigation operation into the Government’s regulation of occupational safety and health in the construction industry, with 40 major recommendations for improvement made to the Labour Department, the Buildings Department and the Development Bureau.

Inspector’s report on Southern Queensland Correctional Centre released
Under the Inspector of Detention Services Act 2022 (IDS Act) the Queensland Ombudsman, Mr Anthony Reilly, is also the Inspector of Detention Services (Inspector). Under the IDS Act, the Inspector must inspect each prison in Queensland every five years and release a report about the inspection. The report makes 37 recommendations for areas of improvement for the women’s prison.

Mercredi 9 avril 2025, le Défenseur des droits publie une étude sur les pratiques de la police nationale en région parisienne qui met en évidence une politique publique d’éviction de l’espace public de personnes considérées comme indésirables. Cette étude a été conduite par les chercheuses Aline Daillère et Magda Boutros (Sciences-po : CRIS/CESDIP) à la demande du Défenseur des droits.
