IOI press conference in Sint Maarten
Dr. Nilda Arduin, Ombudsman of Sint Maarten, Regional President of the IOI’s Caribbean & Latin American Region and President of the Caribbean Ombudsman Association (CAROA) presented the Annual Report of her office at a press conference in Philipsburg. IOI Secretary General Kräuter, who was on his way to the CAROA conference in Bonaire, also attended this press conference.

Commission opens branch office to improve service delivery
The Commission on Administrative Justice, as part of the efforts to improve its oversight role in the counties, has opened a branch office in Isiolo Town to make the Commission’s services accessible to residents of Isiolo, Meru, Laikipia, Samburu and Marsabit counties.

Changing face of homelessness highlighted in Ombudsman report
Homelessness is increasingly affecting families from areas and professions who previously might never have expected to face problems finding somewhere to live, a new report by the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman can reveal. The report, “Still No Place Like Home”, shows in 2016-17 one in three complaints received about homelessness services delivered by English authorities came from outside of London.

Ontario Ombudsman wraps up annual Sharpening Your Teeth investigative training, announces dates for 2018 training
The Ontario Ombudsman’s Office hosted its annual advanced investigative training for administrative watchdogs on Oct. 16 -18, 2017. “Sharpening Your Teeth,” or SYT for short, has trained more than 700 ombudsmen, investigators and other watchdog agency staff at this Toronto course, from throughout Ontario, Canada and the world.
