Consultation of the regions on the IOI World Conference Themes
For the 13th IOI World Conference the National Ombudsman of the Netherlands proposed five themes to be discussed during the event. As the institution wanted to learn the views of other regions on the themes, they started online meetings with the IOI regional boards where the latter were invited to share their thoughts and ideas on the themes as viewed from their perspective.

2023 APOR Conference in Melbourne
The Australasian Pacific Ombudsman Region (APOR) held a conference on 31 October 2023 and its 35th annual Members’ meeting on 1 November 2023 in Melbourne Australia. The conference, themed "Through The Ombudsman Looking Glass: Now And Into The Future" was hosted by Victorian Ombudsman Deborah Glass OBE as Regional President.

Ombudsman conducted Mobile Accountability Clinics in Zomba district
In an effort to strengthen transparency and accountability mechanisms at grassroots level the Office of the Ombudsman conducted Mobile Accountability Clinics in Zomba District for two weeks. Through the mobile clinics platform, the Office takes its services to the communities to sensitize and empower people to identify and report suspected acts of Maladministration that are perpetrating injustices.

The story of obtaining new powers for the Public Services Ombudsman for Wales
In this fascinating paper, Nick Bennett, the Public Services Ombudsman for Wales and IOI Board member describes the work he did to ultimately achieve new legislation which strengthened his Office. It’s particularly interesting because in recognition of the independence of his Office, the legislation was developed by the Welsh Parliament (the National Assembly for Wales), and not the Government.

In its efforts to further increase its regional impact, the IOI will continue the regional subsidy programme for the membership year 2020/2021. IOI members wishing to apply for a regional subsidy are asked to fill in the IOI subsidy application form and submit their project proposal to the General Secretariat by 14 August 2020.
