More than 20 representatives of the states and several European organizations attended the event.

The 15th meeting of “Business and Human Rights” Working Group at the Ombudsman was held. The event entitled “Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the context of business and human rights” was attended by member of the Parliament, representatives of the Ombudsman's Office, respective state bodies, NGOs and members of independent Experts’ Council at the Ombudsman.

In the Czech city of Brno, an annual V4 meeting was held of ombudspersons from Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. In the adopted declaration "Human Rights for Everyone", the Visegrad Group ombudspersons emphasized their common goals and values, as well as the significance of the institution of ombudsman maintaining independence of the authorities. Thanks to such independence, the ombudspersons may support ordinary people in their conflicts with the state.

2017-09-25Ombudsman: Autism Plus and Department of Health failed to protect group home residents
Disability services provider Autism Plus and the Department of Health and Human Services put clients at risk by failing to move a group home resident who was accused of sexually assaulting vulnerable housemates. Victorian Ombudsman Deborah Glass said the events raised serious concerns about the suitability of Autism Plus to provide programs and care for DHHS clients.

On 12-14 June, 2014 the Human Rights Defender of Poland was hosting the annual meeting of the Visegrad Group Ombudsmen (V4). The meeting, held in Białowieża, was attended by Ms Anna Šabatová, Public Defender of Rights of the Czech Republic, Ms Jana Dubovcova, Defender of Rights of the Slovac Republic and Ms Elisabeth Sándor-Szalay, deputy Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary.

Driven by concerns about access to rights and linguistic accessibility for Indigenous populations, on Wednesday, 8 April 2026, the “DPU in Indigenous Languages” project launched a booklet containing basic rights information in the Tikuna Language, spoken by the Magüta/Tikuna people of the State of Amazonas. This initiative results from a partnership between the Working Group on Indigenous Peoples and the Office for Translation Services. The launch took place at DPU headquarters, with representatives of the Magüta/Tikuna People in attendance.

According to Deputy-Ombudsman Mikko Sarja, the equal right of children in prisons to free basic education must be safeguarded, and completing compulsory education must be possible for them. Their imprisonment does not limit these rights. The importance of this issue is underlined by the fact that underage remand prisoners and children who are serving a prison sentence are a very vulnerable group of children.
