2021-11-30Recommendations by Ombudsman Sindh on issue of girls education
On the initiative of Provincial Ombudsman Sindh, Pakistan, Mr. Ajaz Ali Khan, Sindh Education Foundation (SEF) has conducted a research study on the issues of girls education in Sindh, which was sponsored by the International Ombudsman Institute within its regional subsidies programme. The Honourable Chief Minister Sindh inaugurated the launching ceremony on 21 October, 2021.

Doctor of Laws Petri Jääskeläinen has been re-elected to serve as Parliamentary Ombudsman of Finland for a term of four years from January 2022 – December 2025. Dr. Jääskeläinen has already acted as Parliamentary Ombudsman two four-year terms.

Dr Hayden Thomas, an Honorary Life Member of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI), first Ombudsman of Antigua and Barbuda, first President of the Caribbean Ombudsman Association (CAROA) and former Vice-President and Board Director of IOI was recently conferred with the Knight Grand Cross of the most Distinguished Order of the Nation (KGCN), a national honour of Antigua and Barbuda.

2021-11-29Greater transparency needed for Government’s use of machine technology in decision-making
New South Wales (NSW) Ombudsman Paul Miller has called for greater visibility of the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and other machine technology by NSW Government agencies. In a report tabled in Parliament, the Ombudsman has cautioned agencies that using machine technology in ways that do not accord with standards of lawfulness, transparency, fairness and accountability, could lead to findings of maladministration or potentially unlawful conduct.
