La nueva titular del Valedor do Pobo, Milagros Otero Parga, tomará posesión del cargo en un acto institucional que se celebrará el próximo 2 de septiembre en el Pazo do Hórreo, sede del Parlamento de Galicia. Con este acto, el alto comisionado parlamentario pasará a tener una nueva titular que continuará con el trabajo desarrollado durante los últimos tres años por José Julio Fernández al frente de la institución.

Petri Jääskeläinen, the Parliamentary Ombudsman, presented the Parliamentary Ombudsman's Annual Report 2020 to Anu Vehviläinen, Speaker of Parliament, on Thursday 17 June. Like the previous year, a record number of complaints were received in 2020, in total 7,059. This is around 800 (13%) more than in 2019 (6,267).

A Victorian Ombudsman investigation has found prisoner disciplinary hearings are still done “in the dark” and the potential for unfairness remains rife. The probe into the prison disciplinary process, which deals with prisoners who break prison rules, also found prisoners with mental health issues and cognitive impairment were not always offered adequate support and information.

This report of the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI) brings together reporting from NHRIs in Europe on the rule of law situation in their country, collected in February and March 2021. It identifies key trends across the region and details the specific situation in each country, including in the context of governments' responses to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr. Smith released his annual report today, June 29, 2021.
