Ombudsman fetes student leaders as integrity champions
The Office of the Ombudsman recognized integrity champions of the youth during its Campus Integrity Crusaders Awards Ceremony on 30 August 2024. Spearheaded by Deputy Ombudsman Jose Balmeo, Jr., Assistant Ombudsman Janina Hidalgo and Director Rhodora Fenix-Galicia, the Office awarded seven outstanding school organizations for the successful implementation of its enrolled activities promoting integrity, social responsibility and gender and development.

Chief Ombudsman’s first investigation into official information handling by council-controlled infrastructure providers
The Chief Ombudsman’s latest self-initiated investigations into official information practices will include two council-controlled organisations for the first time. Peter Boshier has announced investigations of Auckland Transport and Wellington Water along with the Wellington City Council, Queenstown Lakes District Council and Marlborough District Council.

School items donated to children in need
Based on the initiative of Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Dr. Ákos Kozma, the agencies and organizations – such as the Hungarian Prison Service, the Police and the state-owned forest enterprises – participating in the renovation and refurbishment-related programme aimed at several residential child care communities donated school supplies to the residents of these facilities, including the ones that had been renovated through mutual effort.

The Ombudsman presents the Ombudsplan 2025 to Parliament
Pursuant to Section 10(4) of the Ombudsman Act 1995, the Ombudsman, Judge Emeritus Joseph Zammit McKeon, has submitted the Ombudsplan 2025 to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Hon. Anġlu Farrugia. The Ombudsplan 2025 sets out the planned activities and initiatives that the Office of the Ombudsman aims to undertake in the coming year. It also provides Parliament with an update on the concerns raised in the previous year’s Ombudsplan.

The Hague 2024 - Conference Papers
The 12th IOI World Conference held in The Hague, the Netherlands in May 2024 was an opportunity to reconnect after the pandemic for around 200 delegates from all over the world. True to the motto "Working Together for Our Tomorrow", participants explored the four main themes of the conference "Climate Change", "Future Generations", "Value Dilemmas" and "Outreach". Toronto Ombudsman finds major gaps with police’s registry for vulnerable persons
On 5 September 2024, Toronto's Ombudsman released his report, An Investigation into the Toronto Police Service’s Communications About its Vulnerable Persons Registry. The TPS launched the registry in December of 2019 to allow the public to file personalized de-escalation strategies to help police officers support individuals with emotional, psychological, medical, or other physical conditions. Four years later, the Ombudsman’s investigation found that only 305 people currently have their information entered into the registry.

Así lo destacó la Ombudsperson capitalina, Nashieli Ramírez Hernández, al inaugurar el Foro: “Ley de Amnistía y beneficios por colaboración en los casos de violaciones a los derechos humanos en México. Diálogo sobre su aplicabilidad, análisis de los avances, retrocesos y propuestas de medidas para su eficacia”.
