UNESCO launches 2020 survey on public access to information
UNESCO has kicked off a global survey on public access to information within its efforts to assist countries to report on Sustainable Development Goal 16, particularly on its Target 16.10 which recognizes the contribution of access to information to justice, peace and strong institutions. Using SDG Indicator 16.10.2, the survey will track progress on the adoption and implementation of constitutional, statutory and/or policy guarantees for public access to information around the world.

Control Yuan to Establish National Human Rights Commission
The CY passed the draft “Organic Law of the Control Yuan National Human Rights Commission,” as well as draft amendments to “the Organic Law of the Control Yuan” and “the Organic Act of the Control Yuan Committees,” at the 62nd plenary meeting on June 11, 2019. The bills were then sent for review and deliberation by the Legislative Yuan, which passed them into law on Human Rights Day on Dec. 10, 2019. With the promulgation of the new legislation, the CY National Human Rights Commission shall be established accordingly, marking a new era for the promotion and protection of human rights in Taiwan.
