Review of school leaving examinations will become more transparent
In recent years, the Czech Ombudsman repeatedly warned about shortcomings in the procedure of the Ministry of Education (hereinafter “the Ministry”) in reviewing the results of school-leaving examinations (the “maturita” exam used in numerous types of secondary schools). Based on the Ombudsman’s comments, the Ministry has amended the so-called “maturita decree” and modified certain procedures and forms so that the students would now have better information on where and how to lodge a complaint.

Al participar en la Reunión Anual de GANHRI, Luis Raúl González Pérez, Ombudsperson mexicano, condenó los altos niveles de violencia contra las mujeres y convocó a sus homólogos a cuidar en cada país el cumplimiento de los mecanismos de defensa. Ombudsman’s report heard in Parliament
On the 5th of March the Azerbaijani Ombudsman’s Annual Report for the year of 2018 was heard at the Parliament. During the hearing the Ombudsman summarized the annual activities on restoration of the violated rights, public awareness, international cooperation and protection of the rights of all strata of the society.

Avoidable death of woman after multiple failings following routine hip operation
In December 2014, Mrs L went to a pre-operative assessment at the Trust ahead of her hip replacement surgery. Tests showed that she had high blood pressure and high levels of creatinine which indicated that her kidney function was impaired. A few days later, an anaesthetist checked these results and said that her hip operation could go ahead.

UN CAT calls to establish NHRI by increasing powers of the Ombudsman
The Czech Republic received the final recommendations of the UN Committee Against Torture (hereinafter the “Committee”) based on the examination of the Sixth Periodic Report of the Czech Republic evaluating the implementation of obligations under the UN Convention against Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment. The Committee received five reports from NGOs and requested also a statement from the Ombudsman.

Pensiones no contributivas por invalidez
La Defensoría del Pueblo de la provincia de Santa Fe le solicitó el pasado miércoles, 20 de febrero de 2019, al director Ejecutivo de la Agencia Nacional de Discapacidad que se tomen las medidas necesarias para evitar que, bajo ningún concepto, se suspenda el pago y el inicio de pensiones no contributivas por invalidez mientras se tramita el certificado médico oficial digital (CMOD), el nuevo requisito de la agencia nacional para los beneficiarios de estas pensiones.
