2020-03-06Appointment of Mr. Ajaz Ali Khan as Provincial Ombudsman of Sindh
The Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah has appointed Mr. Ajaz Ali Khan as Ombudsman Sindh for a period of four years. Mr. Ajaz Ali Khan administered Oath of Office by the Governor Sindh on 24th February, 2020 and has assumed the charge of the post on 25th February, 2020. His appointment has been highly appreciated by all sections of Society in view of his valuable services in various capacities in Federal and Provincial Governments.

2020-03-05PHSO publishes Ombudsman’s Casework Report 2019
Today the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman publishes its first annual Ombudsman’s Casework Report. The Report shows the wide range of cases the organisation concluded in 2019. As well as serious complaints about the NHS in England, the report includes cases involving UK government departments and other public services.

2020-03-04Protecting the rights of migrant, refugee and asylum-seeking women and girls
52% of migrants who came to Europe in 2017 were women, according to the 2017 United Nations International Migration Report. Together with children, women and girls are the other most vulnerable groups most at risk from all types of abuses including trafficking, forced marriage or sexual exploitation. Up to 94% of them were trafficked for sexual exploitation in 2016.

The Ombudsman, Maria Lúcia Amaral, and the Deputy Ombudsman, Teresa Anjinho, participated in an international workshop on "Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights", organised by the IOI and the Catalan Ombudsman, in Barcelona from 2 – 3 March 2020.

2020-03-04Ombudsman celebrates 30 years of the Namibian Constitution
The 9th of February 2020 marked 30 years since the adoption of the Namibian Constitution. This year’s anniversary is all the more special as it coincides with the country’s 30th independence anniversary to be observed on 21 March. The Ombudsman celebrated Constitution Day across six different regions, with the main event held at the Dawid Bezuidenhout High School Windhoek.
